Energy Czar

We do have an alternative to extinction. Her name is Carol Browner. Give her your support.

Carol Browner, the new ENERGY CZAR, has the president's ear. She is the Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change. She will coordinate the various agencies that play a role in energy and environmental policy, especially on issues such as climate change that don't fit nicely in the silos of the federal government. Those agencies could include the EPA and the Transportation, Energy and Interior departments. Browner brings a strong environmental resume to the White House, having worked as an attorney and management consultant on a wide range of environmental issues, from clean air regulations to climate change. By herself Carol Browner has very little power, but as an integral part of Barack Obama's energy team she has the ability to propose legislation that will protect the environment and promote a sustainable economy.

She has made her views clear, calling for a shift in the nation's environmental agenda away from that of President George W. Bush, whose tenure she has described as "the worst environmental administration ever." She has blamed the Bush White House with undermining scientists, stalling and in some cases reversing clean air improvements, and refusing to address climate change.

She has served as Senator Al Gore's senior legislative aide before heading up the Department of Environmental Regulation in Florida. Her greatest achievement: settling a lawsuit the government had brought against Florida for environmental damage done to Everglades National Park and launching the largest ecological restoration project ever attempted in the U.S., to purify and restore the natural flow of water to the Everglades.
